Honoring the Legacy of K9 Judge

The passing of a loved animal is never easy, but in the case of Cpl. Mike Franks, he sadly had to lay to rest his long time K-9 partner after battling complications from Cushing's disease for months. K9 Judge began his career with the  West Deptford Police Department in 2007 until having to retire due to dental issues in August 2014. During his time as a K-9 officer, Judge was deployed 280 times and his success included aiding in the arrest of 152 suspects. He also assisted in the seizure of three vehicles, the removal of three handguns from the streets, drug seizures, and the confiscation of more than $47,000 in cash. This exemplary K-9 and his partner are exactly why the 4 Heroes Charity organization has set out to raise funds in an effort to provide our police departments with K-9 dogs to start, expand, and help save these valuable law enforcement assests from disbanding their unit.

We are seeking funds to help the West Deptford Police Department and others like them to expand or begin their K-9 unit with dogs that have the ability to work for the community just like Judge did for many years. We want to replicate and honor his LEGACY  by providing them with K-9's as highly trained as Judge so that they will be heroes within their community. The properly trained service dog has a multifaceted ability and value to do more than just apprehensions, find narcotics, and sniff out explosives. These highly trained agile canines can also find your son, daughter, and grandparent should they go missing or suffer from a debilitating disease such as dementia where wandering and confusion are common.  Any handler will confirm that their K-9 partner is as valuable as a human partner but in certain situations much better. As law enforcement becomes increasingly dangerous, agencies are relying more and more on the agility, versatility, speed, stamina, and senses of Police K9 to protect officers and citizens.

4 Heroes Charity hopes to be in your neighborhood by providing K-9's to your community police department. Please help us provide heroes in your community by supporting our efforts as each untrained dog costs $7,500 plus shipping and other medical costs to ensure fitness for duty. Budgets many times cannot fully support these units and we seek to close the gap so that everyone can benefit from the success of a K-9 and its handler's unique skills. We are setting out to raise money to procure dogs and additional needs that this team has such as vests, training collars, kennels, food, and car inserts to name a few.
