Both Tony and I would like to thank all the wonderful people who donated to help us purchase a wheelchair accessible van. Although our goal wasn't met, it was still a tremendous help towards our purchase. We are now closing down this donation page.

We've only had the van a short time and it has already made leaving the house so much easier. We can start plans for a long awaited trip / getaway that before that van would not have been practical.

Again, thanks for all donations and shares!!

My wife needs your help.

My wife, April Moundzouris, was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a terminal illness that slowly robs it's victims of the use of their legs, arms, ability to eat and drink and eventually breath. Most people with ALS live an average of 2-5 years after diagnosis.

Since April's diagnosis back in March 2012, our financial situation has greatly changed and we are unable to purchase a used wheelchair van.

Both April and I understand times are difficult for most families. But please, if at all possible make a small donation. Every dollar helps and is so much appreciated.

Thanks to so many kind and very generous people we have already raised $2,730.00 toward our goal.

For those that can't donate due to financial difficulties, please hit the like and share button.. it makes such a huge difference.

Thanks!

Please help donate so my wife, April Moundzouris can purchase a used wheelchair van.

April has ALS, better know as Lou Gehrig's Disease. ALS is a terminal illness with a life expectancy of 2-5 years at diagnosis. April was diagnosed a little over 18 months ago. Our life has literally fallen apart.

A wheelchair van would enable April to use her power chair and have a little independence and be able to travel comfortably in her power chair.

Please donate if you can. Every dollar counts.
If you're unable to donate, please hit the Share button. Sharing makes a difference.

thanks

My name is Steve (Tony) Moundzouris and my wife, April Moundzouris, was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease in America on March 28, 2012.

ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis is a terminal disease with no known cause and no cure. Average life expectancy is 2-5 years and the disease is constantly progressing. At this time, April is able to walk short distances inside the home. She has a very nice power wheelchair but without the appropriate van it can only be used at
home downstairs.

Anytime she leaves the home, she has to be helped in the car and pushed in a manual transfer chair taking away basic independence of even being at a grocery store since she can't push herself.

By donating you will help give my wife independence and allow her to comfortably drive directly into the van and lock into place. We have plans to travel and this will only be possible having the right van with her power wheelchair and with her having ALS, time is of the essence. I would have never dreamed that something as simple as going for a short ride would mean that much to a person until now. The average price for an older model used wheelchair van that is dependable for road trips runs between $15,000. - $20,000. I am self employed and work from home. This in itself has been a great help. It was very difficult realizing that due to these circumstances we are not in a financial position to purchase a used wheelchair van. Please help me give my wife a little independence and the joy of travel while she still can.

Thank you, Steve Moundzouris
