Peace & Love-Beads. I humbly fly by here to gather your beautiful wings of support as my band gear up for our 2014 "Alley Of The Earth" tour. We hope to travel from the east coast to the west coast, down south, & up north the USA, as well as the UK.
My name is GhettoSongBird, a Rock-n-Roll singer/songwriter/guitarist from Philadelphia, PA. I've been performing across the USA for the last 12 years at venues such as the world famous Whisky A Go-Go in Los Angeles. & CBGB's, the Apollo Theater, The Bitter End, Snitch, etc. in NYC. I'm also the 1st rocker to perform on B.E.T.'s 106&Park. In Philadelphia I've performed at the Legendary Dobbs, The Tin Angel, The World Cafe Live, The Trocadero, etc. I've played in Washington D.C., New Jersey, South Carolina, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan, etc. As an independent artist with no manager, agent, financial backing or a name big enough to get put up, I decide to step out on the edge & take my band on the road with a grass roots fundraiser. This year my Roxsploitation Band & I are thrilled to be stretching our road overseas.
We started with a promo tour promoting my "Alley Of The Earth" music video/short film directed by Sharvon P. Urbanavage, (written by myself) and it quickly turned into shows in Philly, L.A., Norristown, PA, Morton, PA, Detroit, with other dates currently being booked. Being a rock-n-roll mommy of a 1 1/2 year old 3 year old, with another baby songbird on the way, musician wife, with a day job, it can get overwhelming to stay motivated. Once I was able to get my MoJo back I was ready to get back on the road with my awesome, supportive Roxsploitation band. Our goal is to send vibrations of peace, love, & inspiration through music & words wherever we land. We are willing to roll up our sleeves and raise the funds we need to get this show on the road. Can't turn back now, it's time to ROCK!
My "Alley Of The Earth" video is an autobiography about me facing my personal demon of insecurities inside myself that would not allow me to move forward as an artist. I wanted to kill all of that negative energy around me & within, with the love & passion I have for music & my warrior guitar. When I came up with the story-line for "Alley Of The Earth", I knew that once we shot the actual short film/music video, it would be like burying the past so I can rise like a phoenix out of the ashes & live my rock-n-roll dream once & for all. Music has been a life saver for me & I want to always give back through song. My shows are like a script of emotion I share in hopes of inspiring an ear that needs to hear.
The next single "Stoned On Luv", a song I wrote about over- coming addiction is one of the songs my Roxsploitation band and I have been performing on our tour thus far. I wrote this song surrounded by good people who were battling bad demons within. Drugs was the war on the street in my neighborhood & even in my home. I've seen the eyes that were lurking for those drugs by any means necessary & those same eyes that were detoxed from those drugs because they traded it in for love & a positive vibration for life.
