Hi! My name is Sadie Godiva and I am a roller derby skater affiliated with the Jackson Hole Juggernauts in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. After having only skated for just over a year, I tried out and made the charter for the Cheyenne Capidolls in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This league is the first WFTDA affiliated league in the state, and I am beyond honored to have been chosen to be part of the first charter.
If you know me personally, you know how extreme my passion and dedication for this sport has become - and how it continues to grow every day. I attend every clinic, black & white scrimmage, and derby related event that my schedule and finances allow. I am extremely involved in my league, holding multiple positions, including Director for National Sponsorship, board member, ref coordinator, trainer, and of course - as a skater. Not to mention that attending my own league practices and events is a three hour round trip in itself. I am in love with this sport, totally and completely. I want to BE derby. This is me, this is my life, and I could not imagine it any other way.
Those who are not involved in derby may not realize the high cost of the sport. With gear, dues, insurance, and travel - it adds up to a pretty penny. I count myself lucky to have been able to maintain thus far. However, due to a recent series of unfortunate events, I do not have the cash flow to travel to Cheyenne for my required charter practices. My new teammates have already offered up their houses and I usually bring my own food when necessary while traveling however the gas is a necessary and unavoidable expense.
This is why I am reaching out to friends, family, supporters of derby. Please help me afford the gas to that I can travel to Cheyenne for my charter practices. Last time I went, the gas was right at $250, so I'm setting my goal at three trips worth.
Help make my derby dream of skating in a WFTDA sanctioned bout come true!
