Help Murkin's Little Samurai

Meet Murkin's Little Samurai, as in Samur-eye. She was brought into the vet clinic I work at with a severely injured eye. The owner said it had been like this for many weeks. Even though she was in a lot of pain, Little Sammy purred during the entire visit, even when we examined her eye. Unfortunately, her cornea is ruptured and the eye cannot be saved. The owner could not afford any treatment, so he signed her over to us to be euthanized. She sat on the counter in such a calm and noble manner, while I typed my medical notes in the computer, purring softly to herself. She was in a lot of pain, but did not show it. She could have hissed and batted at me when I had examined her earlier, but she didn't. She knew I was trying to help. I realized I could not bear the thought of euthanizing her. So I took her home with me instead.
Murkin and I have decided to name her Murkin's Little Samurai, (as in samur-eye), or Sammy for short. The first 5 months of her life have not been easy; and the past few weeks she has suffered through a very painful condition that could have been prevented had her owner brought her to a vet sooner.
As I type this message, she is sitting on the desk with me, purring.
She is on pain medications now, and is already starting to feel better. Her eyelids are less swollen, and her cornea has sealed back over, a temporary band-aid for now. She will need a surgery to remove the eye, and we will make sure she gets spayed at the same time. She will stay at my home until she is recovered enough to be adopted into a new home.
With a little help from all of us, Murkin's Little Samurai can have a future free from neglect and suffering. Please help us by making a small donation. We are currently in the process of getting an estimate from a few local vet clinics; I found one clinic who is willing to discount the surgery to $800-900. The normal cost of an enucleation surgery is usually $1500+.
