Volunteering in Fiji

"No one can do everything, but everyone can do something" - Unknown Hi there, My name is Torri Van Nellestyn, I am20 year old university student studying to be a Teacher. Recently, I have decided to take some time off University and go on a trip that is likely to be an experience of a life time. In August 2014, I will be travelling approximately 6399 kilometres to Fiji. Why, you ask; to do my bit to help others. In Fiji, I will be volunteering as a Teacher/Assistant for three months, where I will live with a local family and teach/assist in a school (which i am yet to find out the exact whereabouts of). I have big ideas of what I hope to do in order to make the most of the experience. Whether it be big or small, I really hope to make a difference! However, in order to make this trip possible, I need to raise $5000 which I have almost already saved up but I am still $500 short and that is why, I am kindly asking you to help me reach my goal by reading my story and possibly donating - every little bit helps. The money raised will go towards my flights, placement fee, travel insurance and in-country orientation, which is all organised through Lattitue Global Volunteering. Any money raised beyond the goal amount will go towards purchasing things to donate to the school e.g books, stationary, sporting equipment and whatever else they might need. Not only will this trip hopefully make a difference to the children I will be teaching, but it will make an even bigger difference to myself.
