Help Survivors of Human Trafficking

Over the past several years, I had the opportunity to go to Cambodia to minister to people in the villages, teach English to children at the orphanage and minister to women in the local churches.  During one of those trips, I visited a shelter that housed many girls and women rescued from human (sex) trafficking. Most of them have suffered severe trauma, abuse, and experienced rejection in many different forms, often at the hands of their own family.  I heard about the horrors of human trafficking but it didn't hit me so personally until I met these women and gilrs that survived this atrocity.  Even after I came back home to California, I could not shake off the faces and smiles of these children and women.  It was from that experience that my passion to outreach to human trafficking survivors and provide aftercare services began.  I went back to Cambodia in 2012 to spend a few months volunteering at a safe house to teach, play, and show unconditional love to the surviors of human trafficking.  I also provided support and training for the staff and counselors working at the shelter as many of them are untrained to work with trauma victims and counseling is still a very foreign concept.

This year, I will spend about a month to join a team in Cambodia and take part in mercy ministries, share the love of Jesus with the local people, pray for the sick, and do a variety of ground-level missions work that will bring life and change to these people that so desperately need the hope in their lives.  The work will be focused on outreach to women currently working in the sex industry as well as serving those who have been rescued and are in shelters.
