Wounded Veteran Medical Assistance
Our Mission: To build and fund a network of drivers to provide urgent on-demand medical transportation to road-area service-connected disabled veterans. The veterans who can not drive or have no vehicles have medical needs just like those of us who do have our own transportation. They deserve the ability to get to the medical treatment they have earned, and to be shown respect and gratitude along the way.
Where did this idea originate? I am a 50% disabled Marine Corps veteran. I have been driving for Uber and Lyft, and that gave me this idea. I go to the VA Clinic in Kernersville, NC about once a month. I see an enormous lack of transportation for wounded warriors who have urgent issues and cant wait for a DAV scheduled trip. With the help of my friends who share a concern for the under-served wounded veterans, we will see to it that these veterans get to their doctor when they need to. I would be happy to answer any questions you have. Our start-up costs will be minimal since I will begin by driving them myself and using my van. But once we achieve 501(c)3 status we hope more businesses will help with things like a handicap accessible vehicle and even nurses in the rare case they are needed for the trip.
These men and women have defended us, and sacrificed their own health in the process. Will you please donate what you can, when you can. We hope to eventually replicate this across the country. Honestly any help would mean more than you can know. If you have a wheelchair accessible van in good repair you are willing to donate or allow us to use when necessary please contact me directly. When we become a legal charity you may be able to write it off (but I am no lawyer or CPA so dont take that as legal advice please).
