Hi! We're Wayne and Jessica. We've been married for six years and are excited to welcome our first child into our family! We have chosen to adopt and are thrilled to have recently completed our home study and be one step closer to bringing our baby home.
We are not strangers to adoption or to families built in this beautiful way. Wayne and both his brothers were adopted as infants. Through Wayne's life, we have seen how both nurture (his parents and other family members) and nature (his biological relatives) can blend and create a unique story of love and family.
No price tag can be placed on a human being, let alone a child. It saddens us that often, the financial burden of adoption prevents people from fulfilling their dream of growing their families. There are many individuals, including agency workers, lawyers, adoption facilitators, and the like who work very hard to make the miracle of adoption come together for waiting families. Though the fees are high, we do want to emphasize that we have been very grateful for the work that has been done by those who have already helped us through our home study phase.
The next phase is the matching phase, where we are matched with a woman looking for parents for her baby. To facilitate this match and to prepare all legal paperwork associated with the adoption, we are going with AdoptHelp, an adoption law group committed to bringing families together. In addition to the lawyer's fees, we will be setting up a fund for the medical and living needs of the birth mother once we are matched. Because AdoptHelp works with individuals nationwide, their average matching times are short - 6-12 months. This also means that it is likely that we will not be matched with someone locally, and we will also need to cover travel expenses to pick up our baby and bring him or her home.
It is hard to ask for money, and we are only trying to raise a fraction of what will be needed during this phase. Our adoption will not depend on our fundraising success or failure - we are trusting God and moving forward. But we also recognize that it "takes a village" to raise a child and some people in our village have expressed a desire to financially help bring Baby Jondle home.
