This is our wonderful son Matthew Emile Jones! He is almost 7 months old and he has Down Syndrome. Emile is a happy, energetic, and loving child who's never met a stranger. Emile has Plagiocephaly and Brachycephaly which are flatness of the head, facial asymmetry, ear shifting and fore head sloping or bulging. He also has Torticollis, which is tightness in the neck muscles which causes him to lean and turn his head to the right, contributing to his ear asymmetry.
Several specialists have recommended that Emile be treated with the DOC Band. DOC Band treatments include DSi (3D image) of Emile's head, fit, adjustments ( once every 2 weeks for 3 1/2 to 4 months; requiring 5 hour drive round trips) and an exit appointment.
The cost for his band is $3,800.00. Medicaid will not cover this expense and we, his parents can not afford any additional health insurance for him. The company that's fitting him requires at least $500 before he is given his helmet, with additional $500 payments every month. This they require as an automatic withdrawal from either a credit source, which we don't have; or our checking account which does not contain the funds necessary for his treatment.
Unfortunately the longer we wait, the smaller the window of opportunity for treatment to be effective. We thank you in advance for your consideration. Emile's parents, Maurice and Allyson.
