Postage for books for School in Kenya

For those of you who don't know, Tav and I went to Kenya for our Honeymoon in March, and while there, visited a very needy school in Mombasa, bringing more than $500 worth of school supplies and sporting equipment as well as old laptops and cameras. The attached video shows some of the moments we shared with this school as the kids put on a huge assembly to welcome us and thank us for our efforts.

We will continue our support of Shikamana School for Disadvantage and Orphans, and for our first project upon returning, we decided to run a book drive. While we were there, we saw a completely empty library without even shelves to house books if they had books. And we figured books would be easy to collect if we just reach out to some of our schools in Adelaide. We sent the letter to Cheryl Murfitt, Tav's mother who works at Our Lady Help of Christain School in Whyalla to get her opinion and she took it around to all three campuses at Samaritan College and have collected so much stuff, we will need to get second jobs just to pay for postage!!!

Needless to say the letter we wrote hasn't made it to any other schools, just yet!

Here are a few pics of what the generous staff at Samaritan College have collected so far, all thanks to Cheryl Murfitt for her effort and coordination! And apparently there is more to come! They will be bringing it to Adelaide next weekend for us to package and ship to Kenya. Add all this to the 15kg of new books that Tav and I will also be contributing, and this is one large shipment!



We estimate it will cost between $800-1000 to send all this good stuff over, but we are determined to do it, so hopefully you can help us raise money to help with this cost.
