Let me tell you a little background info about me. I grew up in a lower
class home. My parents were always struggling and having hard times
keeping jobs. We moved around A LOT and I had to switch schools A LOT.
Just when I started making friends at one school it seemed like I had to
transfer to another. We've lived in houses, trailers, motel rooms and
even in my parents vehicles. Everything my dad bought me, he ended up
having to sell later on to get money for bills. I've had a pretty rough
up bringing but luckily I never let that effect me. I've never done
drugs and I've never done any criminal activities. I did pretty good in
school getting As, Bs and Cs from Kindergarten up to 10th grade.
Unfortunately, I dropped out of school in the middle of 10th grade to
get a full time job to help out my parents because only my dad was
working and the bills were stacking up.
When I was 19 I got a
job with an independent contracting company and started working at
different Lowes home improvement stores around the United States. That
job kept me really busy and I never really had time to work on music.
When I did have free time I was always too wore out to do anything. I
had that job for over 6 years and was laid off because the economy got
so bad that that company couldn't function anymore. I've been unemployed
since the lay off and haven't been able to find a job yet. I've been
doing odd jobs here and there to get by on. I figured since I'm
unemployed and have all of this time on my hands, why not try to put an
album together. It's something I've wanted to do all my life but never
had the time or funds to make it happen. Luckily, I was searching online
one day and stumbled across this site. So I figured, I'd make a
GoFundMe me campaign and see where it goes. Now here I am :).
So hello friends and strangers from around the world. My name is Chris and my rapper name is SoNutz. I am a pretty skilled lyricist as you can tell from watching the music video above(apologize for the profane language, I try to keep curse words minimal when rapping but it's not always the case). That song is called 'Laughin At Ya' and it's the only song I've ever recorded in an actual studio. I wrote that song within 20 minutes and recorded it in one take. When the creative juices are flowing I can usually come up with some pretty good lyrics in no time. I've been rapping since I was 13 but I've been a fan of hip hop since I was 7. The first rappers I ever listened to were the Fat Boys and RUN DMC. As I got older I started listening to a more broad range of hip hop artist such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 2pac, Bone thugs n harmony, Eminem etc. It's 2013 and I listen to old school hip hop more than the modern stuff on the radio. I feel like hip hop artist these days only care about making music where they brag about all of the women, money and vehicles they have. I don't like that kind of music at all. I hate that these rich rappers make music about how rich they are, when it's the fans of those artist that made them rich. Gloaters make me sick, but I digress.
I want to make an album that is heavily influenced by 90's hip hop. Music with heart and intellect. If you like 2pac, Dr.Dre and others of that nature I think you will enjoy the album I am going to create. I'm not trying to make an album to get rich and famous, I'm trying to make an album for myself and hip hop fans around the world. If I make this album and have only one person say they love my music, I will feel happy and accomplished :). Music has always been a part of my life and I couldn't imagine life without it. No matter what kind of mood I'm in, I can always find a song to match it. I'd love to be a part of the music business one of these days, but as of right now that is only a dream. I am going to need $1,000 to make this album a reality. That will take care of the unique instrumentals and studio time. So if you can, please donate $1 or more to help fund my album. I sincerely appreciate any and all of your contributions. I'm extremely grateful and will not take your kindness for granted. God bless you all and I hope to hear from you :D. Help others and others will help you, remember that ;).
