Love for Battling Warriors / Merry Boxes

We are a group that sends out boxes of new toys to children with chronic or life limiting illnesses and their siblings. I started this group as a small project to help children in need, and it has expanded to a much larger project than I ever expected during the 3 months we have been in operation.

The feedback given by families who have received packages from Love For Battling Warriors has been positive and filled with gratitude. Parents have reported that these packages have put smiles on their children's faces and have really helped with hospital stays and visits. Chronic & life-limiting childhood illnesses can leave families financially and emotionally drained, the "merry boxes" that we give to the children in these families bring new toys and smiles through an unimaginably difficult time.

Each "merry box" is age and gender specific, containing toys and activities designed to keep a child who is ill busy through treatment & hospital stays. If an ill child has siblings, an appropriate toy is also added to the package for each sibling
to honor the impact of illness on the family unit.

A "merry box" costs about $40-45, including the contents and shipping. Until recently this project has been privately funded by myself and another individual. However, the need for "merry boxes" exceeds our financial resources. We currently have 17 families waiting for packages, and we are working on gathering the funds to ship those packages. Our toy supplies for children under 3 are also beginning to run low. It is my hope that
through fundraising and donations, we can continue to successfully deliver "merry boxes" to those in need.

This is a meaningful & personal project that has gives me great satisfaction to have implemented. I am hoping that instead of birthday gifts this year, money will be donated to Love For Battling Warriors. There is a big wholesale toy event in the week after my birthday and it would be great for my "merry boxes" to be in the position to stock up on toys for all age groups.

Any amount is helpful and we hope that by working together with our donors we can continue to help as many children as possible by providing "merry boxes" to those in need.
