My family and I need your financial assistance. Conservative group attacks on black elected officials have been relentless since the election of our first black President. I am the first African-American elected to serve as Mayor of the Town of Jonesboro, La., and one of many who has been falsely accused of numerous frivolous allegations in effort to distract our focus and discredit our contribution. I have been charged with three counts of malfeasance and the legal fees are astronomical. Help me to remind our children that we still live in a country where they can aspire to be what they want to be without fear of racist attacks and violations of their civil rights. Let's not loose the ground that was paid for with the blood of our ancestors who believed that their sacrifices were worth it. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
