Good news Chiarians!! My mother will be going on the television show, The Doctors in September to discuss Chiari Malformation and the importance of further research and better treatment. She will also be discussing the importance of organ donation and the effect it has on people's lives. Mom is extremely nervous, but she is committed to doing whatever necessary to shed light on Chiari Malformation and organ donation. Every little bit helps!! If you are a Chiarian, what things would you like to see her talk about on the show?

Today I said a final goodbye to my baby brother. After the funeral service we came home and released 20 purple balloons in honor of his struggle with Chiari Malformation. He will no longer be in pain. No more hospital stays, no more MRIs, no more doctors who won't listen or medications being pushed on you. Fly home Ryan, Sissy loves you!

My 20 year old brother, Ryan McGee, passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2013 from a rare brain condition called Chiari Malformation. Ryan was a huge advocate of organ donation and had signed his donor card when getting his drivers license. Our mother was diagnosed with IGA Nephropothy, a genetic form of kidney disease, 20 years ago and has been on the transplant waiting list for the last several years. When Ryan passed she was encouraged to undergo testing to find out if Ryan might be a match for her. Lo and behold he was and so she went in for her transplant the day after his death. She is now doing well and in recovery. During the three months that my brother was sick my dad lost his business and my mom was forced to move in with my husband and I after losing their townhome. Due to the unexpected nature of these events, there was nothing set aside for funeral costs, etc. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated! All money past family expenses will go to the Chiari Warriors Foundation and the Donate Life Foundation.

Wish I had money to donate but sadly I don't. Just wanted to let you know I definitely understand CHIARI. My oldest has CHIARI. He was dx at 4 years old & now is 14. He just had brain surgery in December. So sorry for your loss. This is why I fight so hard to get word about CHIARI out. Our page is www.facebook.com/JosephDevinMi chael
