Quest Magazine (the Research and Health Magazine of the Muscular Dystrophy Association USA) published this article in June about Lewis and his struggles with Myasthenia Gravis (a rare, incurable, life-threatening neuromuscular autoimmune disease that strikes 2 in 1 million children).

Please click on the link to read the article online:

Then donate to this crowdfunding campaign to help raise funds to help make Lewis dream of becoming a productive taxpayer come true. Nothing says success quite like a vision the dreamer can reach!

Thank you and please share the link to this crowdfunding campaign with your friends, family and co-workers. Let's make Lewis' dreams come true.

One of the many awards Lewis has earned.

You've seen Part 1 and you've seen Part 2, now you can watch Part 3 of Lewis' 3-part video documentary.

Today marks the beginning of Myasthenia Gravis Awareness Month, and so today's a great day to donate to this crowdfunding campaign. You could make a world of difference in Lewis' life and help him become the productive taxpayer he wants to become.

Check out the video, share the link to this crowdfunding campaign, and donate today.

Today, Part 2 of the 3-part video documentary Lewis created shortly after undergoing a thymectomy in 2009 is available for viewing on the blog site. Again, as with Part 1, Lewis takes on this very serious subject with an easy yet educational approach. Check it out and see for yourself.

Here's the reason we've created this crowdfunding campaign to benefit Lewis Schofield:

Lewis is a very cool 17-year-old (update: Lewis turned 18 in July) who, despite having a lot of challenges in life, has very clear goals in life. One of those goals is to create a radio show entitled “The Geeked Mind” on Trent Radio that showcases "all things geeky" whether it's science fiction or the cutting edge technology, video games or cult movies, anime or manga, and more -- in a very positive light.

What you don't know about Lewis is that he has more than one serious health condition that complicates his life on a daily basis. Every day starts off with challenges most people are hard pressed to begin to imagine. Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Myasthenia Gravis (a rare, incurable life-threatening neuromuscular autoimmune disease that strikes 2 in 1 million kids), he also suffers from a number of other diagnosed disabilities including a congenital kidney defect.

In other words, Lewis copes with more every single day than most people ever have to in a lifetime.

Over the years, medical professionals, educators, counselors and other people have said that Lewis could only ever expect to be a welfare recipient because of his multiple medical conditions.

Lewis has a different idea.

Lewis plans to be a taxpayer instead, and the way he plans on doing this is by creating radio programs such as the one he currently hosts and produces for Trent Radio in Peterborough, Ontario, eventually moving on to mainstream radio and in time, syndicating his show.

Please watch the regular video updates that will be linked to on this page, and keep up with the news and videos on this very special crowdfunding campaign by visiting this blog site: http://www.geekdomrising.wordpress.com.
