Preliminary Research in Bolivia

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

It has been a busy year for U4C. We are working on a new website and are implementing two health campaigns at Quime (La Paz,Bolivia) related to one of our international development award-winning projects: "Empowering Women and Families in Mining Communities of Bolivia", with the support of Hobbs and Lovington Rotary Club in New Mexico and other great sponsors.

In order to continue accomplishing its mission, this summer, United4Change Center is initiating a significant research project in Bolivia, in relation to issues faced by displacement in different parts of the Country, due to natural disasters or other causes. We are seeking sponsors to send a research team to La Paz and its surrounding communities in order to investigate these issues. This trip will inform a future study to be designed by the team after meeting and working with these communities and it will help finding alternative and sustainable solutions for people impacted by displacement effects.

The research teams consists of Melissa Torres, MSW - current PhD student at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social work - and James Arango - current Masters student at the University of South Florida Graduate Program in Applied Anthropology and College of Public Health.

Melissa's research and assessment experience range from human trafficking, HIV, women's health, and acculturation. James has previously worked on research projects in Bolivia and brings knowledge of disaster, community response, and access to services. Both focus on displacement, community development, and advocacy in Latin America.

They will be working in coordination with U4C-USA and U4C-Bolivia team and other professionals, consultants, mentors and organizations that focus on development, public health, and public policy.

Please feel free to contact us at [email redacted] with any questions.

United4Change Center for International Development & Global Citizenship is an independent nonprofit organization that advocates community development and sustainability.
