Charles Athanasopoulos and Geo Liriano are two high school debaters from NYC, and one of the few Urban Debate League teams to (ever) qualify for the prestigious and highly competitive Tournament of Champions (TOC).

Charles and Geo's hard work and talent have resulted in incredible success throughout the year. They have reached the semi-finals of the Harvard national debate tournament, were champions of the Lakeland tournament and quarterfinalists at the NDCA. And all the while balancing school.

Unfortunately, they have been unfairly denied the financial support to attend the tournament because of politicking by people who put their institutional interests above student success. Even though they were promised support, they now find themselves having to come up with the money on their own.


These kids have truly been making it happen, and they deserve to attend the TOC. Let's get them there!
