Teddy Needs Heart Surgery
Donation protected
Teddy is a 10 week old Yorkshire Terrier who was diagnosed with a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) at 8 weeks of age. This means there is a channel connecting his aorta and pulmonary artery that did not close correctly. Without treatment two-thirds of puppies with this condition will die before reaching one year of age. Surgical repair of this condition is very effective and most puppies go on to live a normal life. Teddy is a very sweet puppy, his previous owner could not afford the surgery and so Teddy is currently living with a foster home.

Update 4/22/2013- Teddy is currently hospitalized at UC Davis. His radiographs show signs of heart failure which he is being treated for and then he will go in for surgery, likely Thursday, but it could be sooner if needed. Because of this, his estimate has increased to a high of $5,000.
