Funeral expenses for Liam Barker

Donation protected
With the greatest sadness and heartbreak our nephew Liam Barker passed away on the 11th August 2016, aged 22 years. This has been a great shock to us all and was very sudden and unexpected.

Liam was born on 29/12/1993, and was born with Myotubular Myopathy, also known as Centra Nuclear Myopathy. Liam was born and nobody could diagnose him with his condition because it was so rare. His parents waited 5 weeks for a diagnosis after his birth and from birth Liam was ventilated. The condition is so rare that it effects on 1 in 10 million boys born!

Liam had the most severe form of the condition which meant that he was ventilated at birth, and was never able to come off his life support. Doctors and Consultants were never able to give his parents any idea what age Liam would live to, and first thoughts after he was born that he may not survive the first 24 hours of life. Then could not say if he would reach his first Birthday.

Against all the odds stacked against him and throughout several bouts of illness Liam lived to be 22 years old. This would never have been achieved without the pure LOVE and DEDICATION of his amazing parents who have nursed him at home whilst on life support since Liam was discharged from hospital on 24th December 1996.

Liam was nursed by an amazing team whilst in James Cook Hospital, who cared and loved Liam like their own. From consultants to nurses and doctors, and also by A team of doctors and nurses from Newcastle. He was also cared for and supported at home by Many carers who without their support and dedication Liam would not have been able to be nursed at home. We Thankyou all for all your care and support with Liam throughout his life.

His parents Michelle and Philip Barker (My Sister and Brother In-law) fought so hard to get Liam home, and have never once thought about themselves since the day he was born. They have both dedicated their lives, along with their daughter Britney to caring for and loving Liam with every inch of their heart and body.

We as a family have lost the centre of our family losing Liam; I would like to ask people to read his story and try to understand how much he meant to his family and how hard they have worked to give him the very best 22 years he could have ever wished for. If it wasn’t for his parent’s hard work, love and dedication Liam would never have got to the age he did.

We as a whole family would like to ask people if you can find it in your hearts to help us to find the money to pay for Liam’s Funeral and give him an amazing send off that MR B deserves. Both parents gave up their jobs when Liam was born to help care for him and have him home where he needed to be. We would be so grateful of any help people can give to them. We just want to take some of the pressure away from and help them get their beautiful boy the funeral he deserves.

Thank you for taking the time to read and I Thank You in advance for any kind of help you can give xxx
