I've created this page to help support an organization that's been near and dear to my heart -- The Image Initiative, a 501(c)(3) non-profit orgnanization. For the past 10 years, I've volunteered for their annual Sisters Empowering Sisters (SES), a two-day event created and hosted for young at-risk women of color ages 13-18. Held in March -- in celebration of Women's History Month -- SES is complete with keynote speakers, both locally and nationally renowned, features lively panel discussions on core issues like self-esteem, relationship violence, STDs/HIV/AIDS awareness/prevention, and teen pregnancy prevention, along with workshops that focus on higher education and career choices.
I love this conference because of what it provides for these young girls: It encourages hope for their futures, it inspires them to reach beyond and fight for an extraordinary life. I've had the privilege to witness firsthand the transformation of young girls within these powerful 2 days, and the impact it has on their lives - going to college, giving back and volunteering in their communities, and becoming motivational speakers themselves. There is POWER in inspiration.
I'm asking everyone, because I truly believe that the youth of today are the visionaries of our tomorrow, to PLEASE help me in support of these young women. For as little as $5 -- if at least 1000 people donated this amount, the goal will be accomplished. I ask that you please give whatever amount is on your heart to give, and please share with your family/friends, so they can share with their friends and so forth -- and in little time this goal will be met.
