Poor Cosmetology Student Expo Dream Fund

Donation protected
My name is Heather Sakall and I am a senior level cosmetology student attending Empire Beauty School in York, PA.

I have always been creative and at 37 years old, finding myself stuck in boring office jobs, I decided it was time for a change.  So almost two years ago, I made the best decision of my life, I signed up for beauty school.

Very long story made as short as possible:
When I started school in August of 2011, I was working full time in a temporary position, having lost my previous job due to the economy.  That position ended in December 2011 and I spent the next (almost) year unemployed.  No one seemed to want to hire someone that was in school for something unrelated to an office.  I currently have the best part time job a creative girl could want, but it doesn't leave a lot of extra money.

That's why I'm here, asking for help and love and support.

Empire is an awesome school and they do amazing things for their students.  One of those amazing things they do is organize a huge student expo, one weekend a year.  Here's the link for last years expo. Empire brings together students from all of their schools for an amazing weekend of learning new techniques, demo's by platform artists, meeting industry experts and industry suppliers...meet fellow students from around the country, make new friends and watch fellow students compete in awesome competitions.  AND to top it all off, you get to stay two nights at Hershey Park Hotel!  The entire weekend is $500, two nights/three days jam packed full of classes, demos and fun!

What is really special about this expo is what it provides for the students.  Just one class, when taken outside of the expo, can run anywhere between $200-700...just ONE class with one of these experts (like Nick Arrojo, Shannon Lamm and more)...and we get a whole weekend for $500...as many classes as we can pack in, for $500.  On top of that, the networking opportunities alone make my head swim!  A ton of connections to be made with top product companies, top hiring salons...and more!

The thought of missing this makes me a little sick... So, what's a poor college student to do??  Beg her friends and family for help, that's what.  And what will you get from me??  First, my undying, inexpressible gratitude... Secondly, the knowledge that you have helped one woman change her life and achieve a dream.  Thirdly, if possible, a free service from me!!! Whether that be a hair cut, a color service, nail service...whatever you want...if I am able to do it, it's yours!

I have until April 26th to raise the money.  Thank you for taking the time to read this far...and a huge thank you, if you can, for donating.

All love, light and happy hair days,
Heather
