Hi, my name is Mariane and I'm a single mom of this beautiful and smart cutie by my side. Earlier this year while working 2 jobs and trying to make ends meet, I began feeling excrutiating abdominal and pelvic pain. I visited my physician regularly, did multiple tests, was prescribed multiple medications, but we could never come to the bottom of it. I began missing work because of the excrutiating pain, something that I have never been accustomed to doing. I decided to change physicians, but this terrible nightmare was just beginning. Although my new physician discovered the root of my pain, it was the dreaded C word that nobody wants to hear... I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. I began to reminisce on my life, moments with my daughter, and all the hardships we've overcome together. Those happy thoughts were quickly followed scary thoughts: the thought of not being here for her in the future and the thought of not being able to watch her grow. In the chaos of those racing thoughts, I hit rock bottom. The anticipation for the results of more tests that followed consumed me; what was only one week, felt like an eternity. On July 18th, I heard the best news of my life: my cancer was localized and we had caught it in time to treat it with surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. We still have the chance to potentially cure my cancer!! Here is where you come in. The medical testing and treatment for my cancer is tremendously expensive. With the help of friends and family, I have been able to stay afloat for the past 3 months. Unfortunately, insurance companies are not so kind and my care will continue to be expensive as my deductible is $6,000 plus 20% patient responsibility .
