Primate Conservation

Donation protected
Hey,

This summer I have started working my dream job and I am absolutely loving it (as many of you will know as I don't stop talking about it). Unfortunately, this job as of now is on a volunteering basis and it is financially difficult to keep up my dream of being involved as much as possible with the conservation of primates.

I study History and Anthropology at Oxford Brookes University and discovered very early on the primate area is what I felt passionate about.

This summer I have volunteered at Howletts (http://www.aspinallfoundation.org/howletts), conducting behavioural observations on Moloch Gibbons (i.e. my profile photo) and helping in the primate section as a keeper. The Aspinall foundation has 60% of the captive species in its parks which provides a safety net as their natural habitat continues to be destroyed and they continue to be sold in the illegal pet trade.

On 21st July I am travelling to Indonesia where I will continue my work for one week (http://www.aspinallfoundation.org/blog/story/java-primate-project. For more information on their conservation efforts - http://www.aspinallfoundation.org/conservation).

After this I will travel to The Little Fireface Project (http://www.nocturama.org) for three more weeks, here I hope to help with education and collect data similiar to what I have been doing so far except lorises are nocturnal, and these individuals are wild. The aim of the project is to save the slow loris via ecology, education and empowerment. This is so important as lorises are threatened by loss of habitat and the devasting effects of the pet trade, as  families are destroyed and their teeth are removed which means they can never be returned to the wild even if they are no longer wanted as a pet as they could not fend for themselves any longer.  (To find out more about this, visit the link above).

The reason I am creating this GoFundMe page is that none of this is cheap. It is not just my dream but it is helping to save animals who the human race are killing through the pet trade, the destruction of their habitat and the use of them in traditional medicines, to name a few.  I know asking for £1000 may seem extortionate so below I am going to list so far how much roughly everything has cost and the costs for the foreseeable future. Please donate whatever you can, be it £1 or £10. I am extremely grateful that you have even read this far, thank you, to all of you.
