On June 30, 2016 Ashley dropped Landon off at the nanny's as she did each day to go to work. She was at work about 2 hours and received the call no mother wants to receive. Landon was being rushed to the hospital and it was not good. Upon arriving at the hospital, they learned that he was breathing but was unconscious and had suffered a severe head trauma. The trauma was so bad, he was shortly air cared via helicopter to Children's Hospital. He has a fractured skull and was diagnosed with a brain bleed. He skull is fractured in the lower left back of his head and the bleed is located in frontal lobe area. "This was the result of forceful handling, not an accidental drop," the police wrote in a news release. Landon is not quite 8 months old...
As this original post, Landon was in critical condition but stable in the PICU. He has a bolt in his head to measure brain pressure and had surgery on Saturday to put in a PIC line and anterial line to help with meds. Ashley and Stephen are being very strong and do not want to leave his side. He has a long road ahead of him to recovery and months in the hospital. Ashley and Stephen will be missing a lot of work and medical bills will continue to rise.
Landon has a long recovery ahead of him and will need special medical equipment, as well as continued therapy for the rest of his life requiring his mom to become his full time care giver. She may need a special vehicle to transport him wherever they go. They live an hour and a half away from the hospital currently and will need to travel to and from the hospital 3+ times a week lus doctor's visits and testing.
