The Tuxedo Pandas Team 4924

We are a community-based team of Christiansburg/Blacksburg students (8th and 9th graders in public schools) who won the FIRST Robotics State Championship and have qualified to compete at the World Robotics Championship in St. Louis, MO from April 24 to 27th, to face 115 teams from across the U.S. and more than 50 other nations.

The "Tuxedo Pandas" were chosen by judges at the state championship as winner of the Inspire Award at the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Virginia State Championship. This is a top honor in FIRST (For Inspiration  and Recognition of Science & Technology), and it recognizes a team that not only is a strong competitor on the field, but also sets an outstanding example through the conduct of its members in showing team spirit and "gracious professionalism." They are one of 2 teams out of 122 other teams that will be representing Virginia in St Louis.

The Tuxedo Pandas are in their second year of competition, under the New River Robotics Association (NRRA). It's a non-profit 501(c)3 (pending) organization to promote STEM in the community.  

We respectfully request your support in raising funds to offset the cost of this exciting trip. The registration alone is $1000! We estimated the expenses, including transportation and food, to total over $19,000.00.
