With your support, the Elder Theatre will be able to stay open after 2013! Due to the movie industry’s, mandatory change to digital projection by the end of the year. However these projectors are not cheap they cost $66,000 which is expensive for any small town theater. Which is more than we can come up with on our own. The Elder Theatre will only be able to remain open after 2013 if we can raise $66,000 to upgrade from our existing equipment. There are several perks offered for donors, depending on donation level, that include free movie tickets, food, and admission to the digital premiere party. After the conversion the movies will look and sound better than ever before featured on our screen. Please consider donating to save this historic piece of American Cinema and keep the movie going experience alive in Jackson Center and Shelby County!
We love this business! It’s not about profits, it’s about community and sharing a place where friends, family, and kids can enjoy a good time making lasting memories. We plan to stay open after 2013, but we need your help to do it. We need to preserve this iconic piece of movie history; this is the type of theatre that movie industries started in; but they seem to forget that. Together we all-can preserve a great piece of American cinema.
