I am happy to announce that I have been contracted to march my first season of Drum Corps International (DCI) with Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps. Genesis is a non-profit organization located in the Rio Grande Valley that is currently in its fourth year of operation. It is currently the fastest growing Drum Corps in the nation and it is an honor to have been given the opportunity to march for them this summer.
My Bio:
I have been a percussionist for 8 years beginning in the 5th grade at Lorena Middle School. I began competing with solos and ensembles in the 6th grade and various other competitions throughout high school. Through hard work and determination I was able to compete for all four years of high school at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC). I competed with the Lorena High School Small Ensemble for three years and I was also able to obtain the title of being the very first national multi-percussion winner with my original composition "Bach to Bach" in 2010 and runner up with my other original composition "Two Worlds" in 2011. While in high school I also had the opportunity to successfully own and manage my own percussion private lessons studio through the Lorena High School band program for four years.
Currently I am a music education major at the University of Texas at Arlington and was presented with the opportunity to audition for the Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps Front Ensemble and was contracted in January. This is my first Drum Corps experience and I look forward to this coming summer of 2013 and hope to do it every summer until my age out year. Being a part of the Genesis Drum & Bugle Corps will help me on my journey of becoming the best music educator I can be. I hope that Genesis is the beginning of my new journey of becoming a music educator.
Any money you contribute goes directly towards my membership fees and will allow me to participate this summer.
