Went to the store yesterday to buy some yarn. Joann's is having a great sell, 40% off any one item. This is a huge money saver to have these coupons to help with our project. I found some soft blue that will be great. It's hard to find yarn that is soft and an "ok" color for a the gentlemen in need :) I will start on the lapgan and post a picture in a few days when I have some work done.
So excited to start on our journey together!

Day one of asking for donations....
Day one of asking for donations. We are nervous as we have never asked for help before and it was not in our upbringing to ask for help. We talked and talked about this before posting this and felt that it was important enough to help as many seniors as we can. With the extremely low income that the elderly receives, most of the time they can not afford the luxury of having items even if it means not having the comfort of warmth. So sad but so true.
With your support we hope to donate 40 lapgans this year.
Thanks for your interest and check make to see how we are doing at meeting our goal!

I am a stay at home grandma, taking care of my elderly mother.
My daughter recently moved back home with her two girls and there is also my 19 year old son that I care for. While we have a full house and busy home, we still have a lot to give with our gift of crochet.
Last year we made 67 preemie baby blankets, 27 preemie hats, and 19 burial gowns. All funded with my own money.
I would love to make as many lapgans as possible for the elderly this year, funds are tight and I asking you to help fund this project.
Lapgans are used to cover the laps or shoulder of the elderly to give them warmth throughout the day. As you may know as we age our skin becomes thin and our circulation just doesn't work as well as it once did, this is why you see the elderly rubbing there hands or holding them to their faces for warmth.
Each lapgan takes 5 balls of yarn, equal to $25.00, so any donation, no matter how small or large, that you can afford is greatly appreciated.
Our goal is to make and donate 40 lagans this year!
Please consider donating a little, we will do all the crocheting and delivery to a variety of senior living facilities.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
