Send John to Deep Space

John Raymond Rothrock devoted nearly 30 years to the space program at JPL and was an integral team member of NASA's Deep Space Network. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John passed very suddenly from a rare form of leukemia just one month after his 58th birthday.
John's family and friends would like to help realize his dream of a "space burial" by sending his ashes into deep space on the next Voyager 01 Memorial Service shuttle, scheduled to launch 2014*. Due to John's six years of service in the United States Navy, his deep space travel is offered at a 10% military discount...this brings the price of space burial down from $12,500.00 to $11,250.00. Unfortunately, that's still way more than we can afford on our own.
Our family is asking for donations to help us send John into deep space for his final journey, and to help memorialize the man who placed everyone's happiness and comfort above of his own. No donation is too little, and your help is appreciated more than we could put into words.
