The Nuclear Family

Since August of 2011, I have been writing a book about the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I have finished the American perspective side of the book. My grandfather Jacob was the only man to fly on both planes carrying the bombs. He left enough testimony for me to piece together the American side of the war. I have been to Japan before to learn about the Japanese perspective, but I need your help to go again.
In 2011 I received a grant through my university (university of colorado) and went to Japan to explore the history of World War II from their side. While there I met the nephew of Sadako, the 12 year old atomic bomb survivor who later died of leukemia while folding 1000 paper cranes. He not only put sadako's last crane in my hand, but he then invited me and Preisdent Truman's grandson to come to Japan and meet survivors of the bomb, and get together to send a message of peace to the world. Well we met in Japan.
Here are a few links about that trip here that appeared in various world media outlets:

here, here, and here

The survivors not only told Clifton and me what surviving an atomic bomb was like, but then asked us to tell other's their testimony. However to write a book of highest quality it cannot be based on only one interview per survivor. I need to conduct many more.

Some of the survivors I met last year, aren't connected to the digital world, so meeting them in person is crucial. As of now If I want to get in touch with them, I have to email a translater so she can hand write a letter to send them, they then reply in Japanese, she translates, and I get a letter back. If I can get to Japan I could arrange to meet with them, but I cannot afford to be in Japan by myself. With your help, I can get back there.
