Greetings from Arizona!
I have offically finished my first week of treatment (5/60 radiation treatments & 1/8 chemo treatments)! From the looks of it, it will be a touch & go couple of months. I was able to finally feel better on Friday after a tough Wed./Thurs. The doctor prescribed me some medicne that helps with my stomach and sick feelings which really helped me make it to the weekend.
On another note, My son Ryley asked me yesterday why I have such long hair and when would I "Take" a haircut. He is a funny little man who has been growing his hair long for the past six months also. I told Ryley that Dad was growing his hair to honor our family friends Dennis & Tamara McAuliff. Tamara passed away of brain cancer three years ago. I told Ryley that I would eventually have my long hair braided like Willie Nelson and then cut. I would give one long braid to Dennis/Tamara and I would keep one for us to remember her. He thought that was cool.
I have never been a long hair person in my 44 years of life but at the time it seemed like the right thing to do. Little did I know when I began growing my hair three years ago that I would also be fighting cancer! I can only pray that I keep my hair long enough to finish my Willie Nelson tribute to Tamara. My chemo doctor said that she thought that I would keep my hair throughout this ordeal but one can never be sure! I hope to be able to complete my tribute to her in the next couple of months! Stay tuned...All the best, Fretz
