Thank you EVERYONE! Your support has been overwhelming. We've made it 95.63% to the goal. Haha. (Not sure about that last .63%...) I think I can officially call this a crazy success!

I plan to surprise Rica on Christmas. I'll be sure to post a picture!

Thanks to everyone's generous giving, we've made it to $630!

This is truly amazing. Thank you all so much!

THE THING IS, the laptop we settled on came to $805.01.

I've been working with Alex, Erica's bro, on purchasing the new laptop (he has access to great discounts and helped purchase Rica's original laptop).

The laptop we settled on came to $735 plus $69.81 (tax) = $805.01.

(This is a certified refurbished laptop that originally cost much more! Alex had a 20% off coupon and free shipping! This is a great deal on a laptop that should be perfect for Erica.)

In light of the final cost of this laptop, I've decided to raise our goal to $800.00. I hope that this makes sense to everyone, and that no one feels cheated. This is the only way I can think to fix this so that no one gets stuck with the difference.

Hey Guys! This little fundraiser is for friends and family of Rica (Erica).

I don't know all of you yet, but I hope to in the future! (If you don't know who I am, come find me on facebook.)

Rica is a really wonderful person, so it seemed completely and totally unfair when her laptop was stolen. She'd just spent $800 on it less than 9 months ago (after saving up for months and months)!

That's why I got the idea to raise some money to give her a new one for Christmas. It didn't seem right to let this injustice to go unnoticed.

I know there are more important causes in the world, and that money can be tight around the holidays, so I'm not going to guilt trip anyone into giving.

I only ask that you think for a moment about how much love and light Rica casts on everyone around her. Let's give some of it back! :)

I need your help to spread the word. I know many of Rica's friends on the West coast, but only a few on the East coast. Please send this along to anyone who knows and loves Rica.

If we surpass the goal of $600, I will keep going until we get to $800 (cost of Rica's original laptop). But if it goes on past that, I will close it down.

If we don't reach the goal, all money raised will still go towards getting Rica a new laptop.
