I went to Tanzania this past April on a medical mission trip. I helped out in a school that feeds around 470 children a day. Some of these children walk miles to get to the school because it is the only source of food they will receive all day. Because it is hard for me, a high school student, to go back to Tanzania and volunteer directly at the school, I asked the teachers and students what they needed most. A lot of the kids who travel far asked for bikes, as this is the most common form on transportation in the area. There is an American man who has moved to Singida, Tanzania permanently. He has a pick up truck and has agreed to purchase and deliver the bicycles to the school. I will be able to transfer the funds to him online, so he can purchase the bicycles for a cheaper price and without the cost of shipping from the United States. My goal is to get bicycles for the students who travel the farthest. There are about 25 who travel a significant distance, and I will be starting with raising money to buy bikes for those students. If you would like to see more photos of the children and the school, please let me know and I can share them with you! Thank you so much!
