Hello all, my name is Brett, and I have lived in South East Michigan my entire life (a whole 27 years). My work is currently giving donations to Bridgepointe, a non-profit located in Detroit, Michigan, to bring toys to local kids for the holidays.
After buying toys for my work's drop off box, I realized I can't buy enough toys! I'm creating this page to to try and collect money so that I can purchase more toys for other local charities/churches as well.
Have you ever been to five below? All of their product's are under $5 and they have a very large range of items. You can even go to the dollar store to buy something simple. In theory it doesn't cost a lot to buy a couple toys to give to a child in need. Every kid needs to have a Christmas!
Donate as little as you would like, I'm not asking for much, but if you can get your friends and family to help out, we can deliver more toys to the local children right here in this region. Just think, if 10 people give $25, we can purchase $250* worth of toys. But if 100 people give only $5, we can purchase $500* worth of toys.
I even created a separate email - just for this occasion if you would like to contact me with any questions, comments, concerns or just to wish me happy holidays! If you would like pictures of the items purchased, or to see receipts of how much was actually spent just let me know.
*Unfortunately, this website takes 5% of all donations, and roughly 3% for me to collect the funds. This really isn't that much, if you factor in the fees and costs of starting a non-profit organization with the state of Michigan. The positive to this is that I don't have any over head costs, and all of the proceeds will go to purchasing toys for children who deserve a holiday present! You don't have to worry about a portion of the donation's going to a large "non-profit" to pay their employees. I will be doing all of the purchasing and researching the best places to donate on my own time; as well as the best deals for the most valuable toys. Just to throw it out there, this is considered a "personal gift" and is not tax deductible. If this becomes popular for this Christmas, I will create a non-profit for next year and spend more time marketing it.
However, if you have a local SE Michigan charity in mind. Let me know!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you and your family have a happy holiday,
