SMM SJM Alumni Annual Fund

Dear Alumni of St. Mary Magdalene or St. Justin Martyr,

In August of 2006, our two great schools merged to form St. Mary Magdalene-St. Justin Martyr School to continue the tradition of academic excellence reached by the individual schools. The goals of the combination were to keep Catholic Education affordable to both parents and the parishes, to ensure that Catholic Education was available in the Willowick/Eastlake area for those families who wanted it, and to create a more secure foundation by having two parishes supporting one school.

Since St. Mary Magdalene and St. Justin Martyr schools were originally founded, catholic schools in the Greater Cleveland area have faced many challenges. Like many organizations, finances are now one of those challenges.

In order to keep the school a viable option for those who wish to continue with a Catholic Education, a group of dedicated alumni from both St. Mary Magdalene and St. Justin Martyr are working in partnership with parish and school leaders and parents to raise $150,000 for our Annual Fund.

Thinking back on your own experiences at either St. Mary Magdalene or St. Justin Martyr, you may recall the many values that were instilled in you at a young age. In many respects you carry those values today and use them in all aspects of your life. We are  reaching out to encourage you to give back to the institutions that played an important part in the overall development of you as a person.

There is no more important time to give than now and there is no more important investment you could be making than to give back to the school of which you can be proud.

The group of alumni/parents is currently working on a marketing plan with four pillars (Communication, Fundraising, Volunteerism, and Enrollment) to ensure that the school remains alive well beyond the 2012-2013 school year. This plan, we believe, will keep us from such direct donation drives in the future, but rather grow the school and its future.
