Happy Belated Easter from the Team...

Happy Belated Easter from the Team Flip family to yours! I apologize for the late holiday wishes. Lots of good things happening for Flip over the last couple of weeks.

He has steadily been able to put on more weight and now has his first prosthetic. He was fitted for his right arm and has been working with two different models.

He was also able to go off-campus for the first time to celebrate the promotion of his Occupational Therapist from Captain to Major.

We are closing in on $10,000 and we need your help to get us there. You have all been so supportive and Flip, his family and friends cannot thank you enough for your love and incredible generosity. To the two recent anonymous donations (you know who you are) and to Luke, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You guys are amazing. To all of the supporters that have been with us from the beginning and everyone who has found Team Flip along way, thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you doesn't begin to cover it, but seriously thank you!

I'm sorry I haven't updated in...

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while! We are so close to the goal that I can't believe it! Fair warning though, once we get really close to $10,000...I'm going to raise the goal. I want to keep this going as long as I can for Flip and his family so please, please spread the word. I have gotten some great feedback and assistance from some awesome veteran's organizations and supporters via Twitter who are helping to spread the word also. Shout out to the great people of Team Red, White and Blue. Check them out at www.teamrwb.org and find out how you can join the team!

Flip has had some ups and downs lately with skin graft problems and gastrointestinal issues as a result of some of his meds. The medications are being tweaked and he has been back and forth on and off solid foods, but he continues to push through nonetheless.

He recently got a visit from none other than Katy Perry and John Mayer while they were in town for the Inauguration festivities. Katy even posted a photo of herself rocking a "Team Flip" bracelet in her inauguration photo diary on Vogue.com. That's right folks! I said Vogue! Check out slide #20 at this link: http://www.vogue.com/vogue-daily/article/katy-perrys-exclusive-inauguration-photo-diary/#1

Again, thank you all so much for all of your support!

On October 22nd, 2012, the life of CPT Edward "Flip" Klein, and that of his family, was changed forever.  While on a walking patrol in Afghanistan, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated where he stood.  A true testament to his character, he was leading his soldiers from the front instead of being in a potentially safer position further to the rear.

As a result of the blast, Flip lost both of his legs, his right arm and three of the fingers on his left hand.  He is currently recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.  He and his family face a long, hard road to recovery and finding a "new normal".

I am asking you to please donate whatever you can spare to help him and his family in his recovery.  While the Army is covering all of his medical costs, there are so many things that his Army benefits won't cover.  His wife Jessica immediately left her career to be by his side so they have lost a steady second income that they have relied on for years to meet their financial obligations.  Once he is able to be released from the hospital, any home they buy or build will have to be specially modified or retrofitted to assist with any physical limitations he has.  This could cost tens of thousands of dollars.  While organizations do exist that build these types of homes for wounded warriors, the wait list for one of these homes is 3 years or more and growing each month.

Flip is a down-to-earth, compassionate, funny, amazing man that touches the lives of everyone he meets.  Please consider donating today.

I would really like to thank all of you so much for your kindness. It is because of people like you that my husband is so proud of this country. We are so blessed, and once are able to get through the hardest parts of our journey, we hope to be able to help other families who find themselves in similar situations.

I am so grateful to all of you! My husband Flip and I are blessed to have friends like Brett and Becky who have taken the time and effort to set up this site for us. My husband's recovery will be long and difficult, but people like you are why he fights for freedom.

Flip and Rebecca, most of us cannot fathom what you are both going through right now, but know that there are many out here that thank you (it's so much more than that, but those are the words, right?) for your service and enormous sacrifice. Prayers to you and your family as you transition to your new normal.
