Sister Giant!
Hi, I'm Karen Schultz Tarnopol!
If you believe that any amount of child
poverty and hunger is too much, please continue reading.
Did
you know that at a rate of 23.1%, child poverty in the United
States ranks second highest among 35 developed nations - that's about 15
million children here in the United States!
I personally know of a teacher that has
told me that the kids in her class are so hungry they steal each other's
lunches. Consistent good, healthy meals are difficult to come by for an
unnecessarily exorbitant amount of families in the US and around the world.
We can help!
We have to be the ones to make the
change if we want our world to get better. We can't wait for one group, one
politician, etc. to fix things. We are the ones that really truly make the
difference.
This is me doing my part...
I'm going to attend Sister Giant on November 10th
and 11th. The purpose of SISTER GIANT is to help create a new
conversation in American politics, one in which principles of higher
consciousness form a new foundation for political involvement.
The training is done by leaders of the Women's Campaign School at Yale University.
The President, Past President and a current member of the Board of Directors of
the Campaign School will lead the training. This is an incredible opportunity
for me to learn the ins and outs of leading a political life. It will also
include a blueprint for moving forward "” an action plan for a new politics in
the 21st Century.
The Women's Campaign School at Yale is considered the premier, non-partisan,
issue neutral campaign leadership program, the goal of which is to increase
the number and influence of women in elected and appointed positions here at
home and around the world.
What's in it for you?
As somebody who has always been
passionate about making the world a better place for our kids, knowing the
extent of poverty and hunger in our nation only drives me to dig in deeper. I
have been advocating for children in my community through my charity
Score4Kids, and I need to go deeper to make a more significant impact.
The more I learn and the more involved
I become, the more I can help our community, humanity and you! This is a
once in a lifetime opportunity!
I always find myself gravitating to
children and children's issues, and I have no doubt that this is where my
life's mission is. I have two sons, Jake 14 and Jonah 11. They are the world to
me and I want to do everything I can to make their world a healthy place for
them to live!
Having been a single mom since my kids
were 2 and 4, I don't tend have extra funds for just about anything. Not
complaining, just my reality in this moment. I would love your help.
Being a spiritual person, I have spent
a lot of time avoiding politics due to the frustration of the system and the
difficulty in digging out the truth in all of it. I wanted to be in my little
bubble of love. It turns out you cannot effectuate change from inside that
bubble.
I will take what I have learned
personally and through Sister Giant to find creative ways of making the necessary
changes related to our local and national issues.
I've had enough of "the way it's
always been!" It's not working.
Our kids need our help and I'm ready to
go!
If you feel moved to donate, please do.
I promise to make you proud:
