I am very happy to announce...

Hi everyone,
Our 16 year-old friend Austin, has been waging a very tough
battle against cancer. He was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma
two and a half years ago when he was 14 years old. 5 months
before he was diagnosed, his world was shaken by his father's death from a
sudden illness. Austin initially soldiered through 30 rounds of chemo. He was
unable to finish his last 5 rounds as his bone marrow could not take it
anymore. Due to the ravages of the chemo on his body, he had to have his gall
bladder and appendix removed. In addition, he suffered through 28 days of
maximum radiation. Austin's cancer finally went into remission. A few months
ago, Austin became the grateful recipient of a successful bone marrow
transplant, although his odds were not good for coming out of the surgery
alive. The transplant was a great success! The week that Austin was to be
going home, as a cancer-free young man, they found another cancerous tumor. He
endured 5 days of CyberKnife treatment on the tumor. Sadly, it was discovered on
Friday that the cancer has now invaded his new, healthy bone marrow. At this
point they are praying for a miracle. Austin is hoping that his doctors will
allow him to pursue getting his driving permit in three weeks. His dream car
has always been a 1972 Chevelle, and we are accepting donations so that we can
make his dream come true. His mom is a very gifted and adored elementary school
teacher, but she left her job when Austin was diagnosed, so that she could take
care of him. Every little bit donated will be greatly appreciated! Any donated
monies not used for Austin's dream car will go towards helping the family with
their daily living expenses associated with Austin's care, as his mom is still
not working. Please pass this page on to anyone you know that may be able to
help. Austin lives in Colorado and is currently able to continue to be at home
with his family.

Hi Austin, My name is Jordan and I am a cancer survivor. I was diagnosed with rhabdomysarcoma too but it was stage 3 in my bladder and pelvis and had to have my bladder removed. I went through years of chemo and radiation too and I have had 19 surgeries. I am sixteen too and am in remission. When I read about you I just wanted you to know that I am praying for you and would love to talk to you about what we go through. I hope you get your car!
