CHILDREN'S PAVILION AND COMFORT ZONE program provides a safe and fun place for the youth to go to after school free of cost or at a very low price. Students will have the opportunity to complete homework and have it checked. If your child needs help, we tutor. Students have access to tablets and computers to play educational games and study. We are a family resource center and our doors are open to all who need help. We want to help the students in the community. We believe everyone deserves a chance at life and experience the things they love. For the past year our company has been providing free afterschool enrichment classes like dance, karate, Spanish, etiquette, and art to elementary and middle school students in Broward county. We have also supported children academically with daily homework help and tutoring. Every summer we provide free lunch and snack to children ages 1-18. This year we have served over 1,400 free lunches and snacks to children enrolled in our program and the youth in the community
The Dilemma
We moved from one unit in the Lincoln Sunrise Commercial Business Plaza. The tenant before us was using the unit illegally which means we would have to do a change of use, pull plans by hiring a general contractor, architect, electrician and plumber to bring the unit into compliance according to The City of Sunrise. We cannot afford the general contracting, architectural, electrical and plumbing costs of 7900.00 to bring the unit to code. The landlord says they cannot help us as we are currently paying fees of approximately 4000.00 from the previous unit and renovations.
We were under the impression that the new unit was in compliance per landlord and property management. It was not until we went to the city to obtain a business license, which had no record of any businesses being in the unit since 2002. No plans or permits were filed since 1989. They required us to pull plans, permits, and go through the inspections process. Paying back this debt has hindered us from moving forward in providing for our students. We are a non-fit. All funds go to the teachers who provide the enrichment classes and to the utilities and monthly rent for the unit. We cannot afford the costs being brought forward of 7900.00. If you could please; anything helps. Every year we help students progress in school for little to no cost.
