Maternal health has always been a strong point of interest for me and, as of late, it has become my driving force in life. I read all there is to read about pregnancy and prenatal health, the healthcare system here in the US and internationally, and I have one conclusion; midwifery is the answer to a vast amount of maternal and infant health issues and in resolving Millenium Development Goals 4 & 5 associated with maternal health. I have realized that midwifery is the path I need to be on to make a difference and to provide comprehensive health services and education to childbearing women and their families. I believe that women are strong and capable people, and midwifery is what I can do to help them. This is how I can make a difference here at home and abroad. My desires are to become a Certified Professional Midwife and to care for childbearing women anywhere I may travel in the world. The first step on my path to becoming certified is to travel to Tennessee to The Farm, and to take Ina May Gaskin's midwifery assistant and neonatal resuscitation workshops. From there, doors will open for me and I can further my path to certification. The costs of these amazing seminars are upwards of $900 a piece. This is where you come in. I need your help to make my dreams a reality! I want to attend as many of The Farm's Midwifery workshops as I can get my hands on! With the cost of workshops, flights, lodging, and educational materials, I am looking to raise $3000. But anything will help! With the change in your pocket, I can make a big change in this world by helping mothers bring babies safely into loving families! Please consider donating today, every penny counts!!
