late in July we discovered that there was something off with my new kidney. We at first thought that the autoimmune disease that I have that killed my own kidneys had come back in the new one. Not so. It's my body trying to reject, and I ended up back in the hospital to do a series of IV steroids and plasmapheresis, and other meds. It has delayed me going back to work as a massage therapist until sometime in October. So, still without income. Family and friends have been kind, still have bills to pay. If anyone finds it in their heart to perhaps help out, it would forever be appreciated. :) Thank you.

Hi, all. I was blessed with a donation of a kidney in June. My transplant surgery was 6/23/13, and I am taking the summer to recover and "normalize". So, that means no income, since I am self-employed. I have a myriad of doc appointments to keep me busy:) , and I sleep a lot - lol. Yes, money is scarce, so hopefully, you'll feel in your heart the urge to help out. I would forever be indebted. :)

Update! Update! Well, I had my heart surgery at the end of Sept. , 2012. After 9 weeks in the hospital and rehab for recovery from complications, I finally came home in early Dec., 2012. I had had a skin graft on my foot from one of the complications, and that took many months to heal. I finally got permission to start working 3 weeks ago. I am starting back to work slowly, part time. I will be back on the active list for a kidney transplant in April, 2013, and hopefully will get a transplant sometime this coming summer. I have a potential live donor, and two other people who want to be tested. I am a very difficult match because of high antibodies, but I remain hopeful. When the transplant happens, I will again have to take time off from work - at least 3 months. I am self-employed, with no paid sick leave, vacation time. So, once more I am asking for help. Last year, many people were extremely generous, and I have been humbled by the help I received. I hope people can find it in their hearts to help and donate again to help me through this next stage in my fight for life. Thank you all.

Hi, everyone. This...asking for help...is one of the hardest things I've had to do. I am so independent, and always feel that I should be able to manage on my own. But this time  have to go beyond myself. In the last 7 years I have  been through about 15 surgeries, form having both hips replaced, to hernia surgery, to a mastectomy in  early 2005 and subsequent  breast reconstruction surgeries. I did 6 months of chemotherapy then, and still managed to work part time as a massage therapist. But now I'm facing much more. I have battled a rare autoimmune disease called Fibrillary Glomerulonephritis since August, 2010. It has , simply put, attacked my kidneys, and in June of 2011, my kidney function dropped to 7%. I started dialysis 3 times a week on June 01, 2011, and have continued with that up until now, working the whole time, sometime part time, depending on how I'm feeling. I am also on the National Transplant list. I have a potential live donor, but she is not a perfect match, and I keep searching for a better one. ( I am looking for blood type B or O)

But now I'm facing more. I was hospitalized in July for two weeks with double pneumonia and hemolytic anemia. I did not work at all in July, but I managed to pay most of my bills. Being self-employed, I don't get sick leave or sick pay. I simply make no money at all. In early August of this year I was diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis. I will be having open heart surgery on 9/26/2012, to replace my aortic valve. I have been told , because my job is physical, I will not be able to work for two months. Once I am healed from this, I will then move on to kidney transplant surgery, which will mean taking at least another 3 months off from working. I will need money to supplement my rent, which will be paid through Social Security, which I started receiving earlier this year. I will have no income for almost a half year, and  it will wipe me out financially.. I will still have utilities, food, and any medical copayments that my Medicare does not pay. So, I am finally swallowing my pride and asking for help. Even something as small as $5 or $10 will help me get through this. And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for anything you donate. By this time next year I hope to be well, and working, and, hopefully, paying  back in any way I can, the generosity of both friends and strangers.
