Quest for the Dragon's EGG Hoverboard Game - innovating Education, Entertainment and Exercise
From Icarus to Iron Man 3, flying is the fancy and fantasy of humanity.
A dream that fires the imagination with images of the flying Dragons of Avatar, the Silver Surfer, Marty McFly and Harry Potter.
For children around the world, but especially for ones growing up in the urban slums and rural villages of this world's developing countries, the dream of flying is a form of escape. Flying is freedom. A child who can fly, cannot be left behind, but he or she can lead the way.
This dream, shared by a grandfather determined to be an active participant in his grandchildren's education, has turned into a passion, a pursuit, a Quest.
The Rose of Education Organization (TREO), is a socially responsible for-profit enterprise, a game, education and technology (game-edu-tech) company formed to help cultivate and nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers and application developers.
Dragon's EGG: innovating Education
Today we have the unique opportunity to utilize the fantasy of Flying as a tool to create bridges of learning for students who might otherwise be disengaged by the current methods of teaching the sciences, technology, engineering and math disciplines.
TREO's objective is to create engaging and experiential educational games for all children. Like the students The Rose of Education met while visiting schools in the urban slums and rural villages of Nairobi, Kenya (www.cheerycentre.org), New Delhi, India (www.lovecarefoundation.org), and Siem Reap, Cambodia (www.buildyourfuturetoday.org).
TREO is developing games to inspire their intellect, ignite their imagination and inform their individuality. That they may become producers, not just consumers, in this 21st century of technological wonders.
Imagine a curriculum where students in primary and secondary schools learn the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), and Art of flying, Silver Surfer style. A business infused curriculum to help prepare future entrepreneurs and innovators for 21st century jobs and as job creators.
The Need
The focus to engage and interest more youths, particularly underprivileged boys and girls, in STEM education and careers, has become a mandate of governments internationally. Why?
In the U.S. for example: 80% of jobs created in the next decade will require math and science skills. In fact, 21 of the top 25 paying jobs are in STEM related fields. The average salary of STEM employees is 70% higher than those in all other occupations.
However, only 34% of U.S. 8th graders were rated proficient or higher in a national math assessment. In international exams, U.S. high school students ranked 21st out of 30 industrialized nations in science and 25th in math. Only 43% of U.S. high school graduates were ready for college work in math and only 29% were ready in science.
The need is even greater in countries without the resources of first world economies.

But development of the body, not only the mind, is of equal importance. Child and adult diabetes and obesity rates are on the rise as many lead a sedentary lifestyle. Improving overall health, mental wellness and physical fitness are top priorities of governmental agencies burdened by the ballooning costs of healthcare.
Video games and mobile applications that encourages players to get up and move, are on the rise.
However, it wasn't enough to try and build a new-fangled flying machine, but also to imagine what kind of exercises would be required to control such a device.
Enter The STORK
Stance Theory: Optimized Reflex Kinetics (STORK), examines what it means to stand, whether upon solid ground or air.
The STORK is a mental and physical discipline conceived to build awareness, balance and core strength in a hoverboard pilot, to become one with the device and help withstand the rigors of bird, or dragon, flight.
The Dragon's EGG Hoverboard Game, a Dragon's Fire Flying Game and Fitness Gear prototype, imagines what is would be like to fly a Dragon, like those in the movie Avatar, by standing on its back. The fitness aspect of the game is meant to help build the ABCs of Flying - Awareness, Balance and Core strength.

With the successful development of the world's first hoverboard, the HendoHover,
by ArxPax (www.arxpax.com), the dream is closer to reality.
TREO plans to integrate ArxPax's hoverboard engines into the Dragon's EGG.
Separate the Dragon's EGG (about the size of a coconut) in half, place on flat surface or fitness game interface, stand on EGG, perform exercises.
Because it's a flying dragon, the egg hovers.
The Dragon's EGG Hoverboard Game concept and The STORK exercises have been introduced and performed with kids, young and old, big and small, in Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and the UK.
Gamers, Parkour practitioners, personal trainers, skateboarders, dancers, athletes, weekend warriors, and old rock and rollers have embraced the game and exercise excitedly.
Quidditch, the flying game from the Harry Potter novels and films is now an intercollegiate and international, mixed team sport, enjoyed by men and women. Members of the London Unspeakables, London's original Quidditch club, have been introduced to the Dragon's Fire flying game concept and some have agreed to join TREO on this Quest and be among the first to test the Dragon's EGG prototype.
All of the above demographic groups represent TREO's target audiences and markets in education, entertainment and exercise.
I have invested $40,000 USD (£25k) in the past 5 years to build the business, education partnerships, sales channels, market, brand, develop, test, gain acceptance for and early adopters of, game concepts.
How Funds will be used
$30k will help fund TREO for the next 12 months as it further develops, builds and tests prototypes of the Dragon's EGG in both hovering and non-hovering versions; revisit international education partners to develop pilot education and fitness game programs and apps; protect IP; expand partnerships; and attract an additional $60k in funding to get the Dragon's EGG on the shelves, in your hands and under your feet in the next 12 to 18 months.
