The American Legion is the largest military veteran's organization in the U.S. Our mission is to aid and assist active duty military, military vets, and the surrounding communities.
Randolph Furey, Post 170, also known as Green Acres to most locals, has been in existence since 1946 and has been a staple in the community; hosting such artists as James Brown and many others. We've recently rebuilt our outdoor stage so we can again host other artists. Annually, along with our Auxiliary Unit, we conduct Health Fairs, National Night Out Against Crime, Dinners for Seniors during Thanksgiving, Breast Cancers Awareness Seminars, and many other events that are free to the community. We sponsor young men to Boy's State and support "Take a Vet to a Doctor" programs, just to name a few.
The American Legion, Post 170 is a 501(c)3 organization (tax exempt), so all of your donations are tax deductible.
Our Post is one of the few that does not have a hall to better serve the community. We are seeking to erect an addition to our existing building (also in dire need of a face lift) that will seat 300 - 500 people. This addition will allow us to rent to the public, for weddings, receptions, business seminars, etc, at a much lower price than the surrounding area. Having an addition will also lend itself to holding computer and exercise classes. This addition will enable us to have a Member's side to highlight our military memorabilia, as does most every Post in the world.
