I have an acute illness that I have been dealing with for the past 18 years. Most of the time, I am able to deal with this illness with the help of my doctors, friends and family. However, there are times when it becomes debilitating and frightening. Last month I had this experience and became very frightened. I have been using the same methods and places of treatment for all these years, there is nothing substantial to show for it. So I decided it was time to seek the best possible care available. This included a 2+ week hospital stay, doctors and multiple treatments. Unfortunately, the best is not always covered by insurance. I had to go out of network and I am now faced with very high deductibles, coinsurance and other expenses. This debilitating illness has left me unable to work full time, if at all, and forced to stay with family. This new burden is stressful and making recovery extremely difficult.
