Volunteer Trip to Empower Women in Ghana

Welcome to my campaign to help the women of GHANA! I am raising program fees to travel to Ghana to work alongside women who make beads by hand, clothing, batiking and other free-trade products through Global Mamas. www.GlobalMamas.org
THIS IS A LIFELONG DREAM! I have always worked to empower women, through my volunteer service and through my professional career. I have devoted my life to helping women RISE UP and STAND UP for themselves and for their communities.
I have raised money in the past for battered women, for programs that serve women with cancer, for the environment, for women's mental health, and for women with AIDS. I helped start an orphanage in Northern Uganda and I've met the amazing Immaculee from Rwanda. All these experiences have led me to this moment now.
When meeting Ghandi's grandson, Dr. Arun Ghandhi, he used his grandfather's words, "Be the Change you Wish to See in the World." I have helped to inspire change, but now I want to go to the next level. I want to meet and work first-hand with the women of Ghana, through an amazing program called GLOBAL MAMAS.
I first applied 5 years ago, and I was accepted into the program at that time. However, my father-in-law lived with us and suffered a massive stroke. I became his caretaker for 5 years while I put my dreams of traveling to Africa on the back burner.
Now is the time for me to step up and out of my comfort zone. While away from family and friends, I will be surrounded by a community of artisans and women creating fabrics, jewelry, shea butter and more.
