Defend Jeronimo Yanez

Donation protected
On July 6th around 9 PM Jeronimo Yanez was performing his duty as a police officer to protect and serve his community.
If you ask any officer of the law, shooting ANYONE is something they all hope that they never have to be in a situation where that is necessary. Contrary to what some may say, police officers never want to take a person's life away. It is heartbreaking and damaging to the officer. Ask any cop you know, they will tell you. They will never forget the moment they were put in a situation where that was the only choice they had. It haunts them too. They are human just like us. They have big hearts, they genuinely care. They are not monsters. It takes a very selfless person to become a police officer. The money is terrible, the job is dangerous and heartbreaking at times. The things they have to witness can never be unseen. Yet they choose it because they care. They want to help. They want to protect and serve. They want to make a difference. They don't give up no matter how much disappointment they encounter. They don't give up because they hold on to hope and believe in us.  No matter what they still keep trying.
Sadly, now because of movements supported by our current president, the amount of harassment, scrutiny, and hatred an officer has to endure is terrifying. It is a risk that every officer is aware of the day they decide to commit their lives to protect us. Still, they hope it never has to come to that.
Unfortunately it is a situation that occurs from time to time when people endanger the lives of others.
Officer Yanez found himself in this situation. After going through a traumatic and life changing event where he was forced to make a decision to defend and protect his community, he has now had to go into hiding. His name has been plastered everywhere, making it easy for people to find out his personal information. Reporters and protestors are at his home where just last week he lived peacefully with his wife and new baby. They are harassing his parents, friends, ect. He is being branded as a monster and evil person. People on social media are asking for his death!
This is insane. What about the rest of the story. Does anyone want to know or does it not even matter? You have all seen the video. You have heard the pain and agony and sorrow in his screams. He did not want to do this. He had to. It is not fair for him to be in fear of his and his families lives when we don't even know what happened. There is more to this story. I felt it the second I watched the video. If you open your mind you will too. Something about this just does not add up. It will all come out eventually. Until then Officer Yanez and his family are living in fear. They can't go home, or out in public. He is on a cops salary which is nothing. I saw how the other side of this set up GoFundMe accounts and have close to 300K and still counting before we even know the whole story. Doesn't anyone even want to know?  Isn't a police officers word more credible than a mom that does drugs in car with her baby in the back seat and then posts it to social media?! Can you give me one reason how you know that no matter what his side of the story is, it is automatically the false one? What  is the three Castile donations money even for? How does someone dying cause a person to need more money than a funeral would cost? I hope with all my heart that some of it gets to the little girl but seeing as how they are already fighting over the money The chances are minimal. Regardless, Money does not replace the pain of losing someone. It was either him or the officer. Someone was going to lose a loved one.  Only two people in this situation are truly victims ( Officer Yanez and the little girl) Only one side did not do anything wrong. That will be revealed in time. When it does come out, what will everyone say to Officer Yanez? "Sorry"? "My bad"? "Oops"? Sadly, I am aware that even when all the evidence is right in front of some people they still won't see it. I have to learn to accept that. When a persons heart is so filled with hate it tends to blind them.
As for myself, I'm tired of this. What is going to happen when the policemen are too afraid of blowback to do their jobs? I don't want to live in a country without police. Do you? You may say that now but trust me, if it ever happened you would regret it. Do you want your kids to grow up in a world with no laws? The thought is terrifying. We need to stop villanizing and ruining people's lives before we even know all the facts! He was doing his job.
I decided to create this to show our police that we stand behind them. We appreciate them. I wanted to show them that there is hope, show them that they aren't out there risking their lives for people who would rather they be the ones killed. I do not know Officer Yanez. I will not touch any this money. I am publicly stating in writing: gofundme do not release any of this money to me. It does not belong to me. This money will go to Officer Yanez just as soon and if any money gets raised. I will make efforts to contact him and I can be contacted here if anyone has any tips on how to reach him but any money donated will not leave the account until he has access.
As to what the money is for, that is up to Officer Yanez but I would like to see him be able to rent a safe place for himself and his family, pay for protection for his family, and a lawyer to defend himself. More than anything I want the donations to show something. I want the amount of people contributing to show our brothers and sisters in blue that we love them. We stand behind them and support them. I want to renew their hope and prevent them from feeling defeated. Imagine if all you did was try to help people, even at the risk of losing your life, and the entire world just hated you for it without even asking your side. No matter what you're just a villain. We have a voice to people.  You don't have to donate and I don't care what nasty comments get left on here, but please if even just for the sake of being fair and equal; can we just please atleast wait to hear the entire story before forming a conclusion and stirring up more hatred, violence and suffering? So I invite people to stand behind our officers. Show them that we believe in them and their integrity. Why does he not deserve the same respect as the other side?  What did he do or say that took away our trust in him? Do we really have any idea what happened? Let's stop all of this. It's past time.
